The new 41mm Wide Glide with a 3deg rake. |
|

Here I've mounted one of the new flat side gas tanks to see how well it clears the engine and forks. |
The last wide glide I had on the bike was a conversion and the tubes hit the tanks. As you can see from this pic there's no problem with that here. I can now take these parts off and prep the tanks for paint, take off the rocker boxes for chrome, and all the rest of the millions of little details to come. |

I'm grinding off the old right side top rear tank mount. This is necessary in order to mount the new rubber mounted tanks. See the Frame page to get a better idea of what I'm up to. |

The right side tank mocked into place. As you can see there's plenty of room for whatever carb setup I want...but I'm keeping the S+S Super E. |

Both tanks in place. I'm take them off and store them until I'm ready to paint. The next thing is to pull the engine parts out. The rocker boxes will go out for chrome and I'm paint the cases. |

Chain guard. I like the look of the FL chain guard so here it is on my FX (like the frames are any different). |

15" Ape hangers on 2" risers. I love tall bars |
![]() |
Every one does it. Sit on the bike and make vroom vroom noises. You'll note I'm sitting on the frame and my hands are just at shoulder height. When the seat is in place they will be below my shoulders, a nice comfortable ride |
| New GMA 2 piston rear caliper and 11.5" rotor. These to me are the best bang for the buck. The lower support arm will be chromed. The new wheel is 40 spoke 5" |
|
| New chrome rear sprocket. It has the stock tooth count. |

Got the tires mounted. Metzler Marathons. |
| Testing the fit | |
| Same her but I found a slight problem. Check the Problems page to get a better look |

First time front brake installation. Dual GMA 4 piston calipers and GMA ductile iron rotors. These are the best deal for the bike I got off of eBay. Thies are $500 worth of frone brakes a got for $169...Sweet. |
| I had to grind the powder coat off here in order to weld the new top rear tank mount on. | |

The weld is done. Not pretty but I haven't welded in a long time and the MIG welder I borrowed was only 100A. That is just on the hairy edge for steel this thick. |

First mock up of Milwaukee Iron dash on the new flat side tanks. I don't like the dash so I sold it. I'm going with w more traditional dash. The pen marks you see when you look a the full size picture are places were the tank has flat spots. I need to get a stud gun and pull these out to match the dash curve. |

I had to replace the triple trees I was originally going to use as they were defective. The lower tree was 3deg but the upper wasn't. I found these on eBay and they're perfect. |
![]() |
Not only are they perfect but I got an internal forkstop kit and new fort cups as well, all stainless steel. This is the internal stops after I installed them. |
| These are the new stretched tanks I got to replace the standard Fat Bobs I tried earlier. They not only look and fit better but the are far better made and hold more gas. | |
| Fist belt drive mockup BDL 3" open belt. |

Testing the chain fit with trans drive and rear tire in place. |
| First fit of the motor plate Fab Kevin made for me. Of course it fit perfectly. Kevin dose great work and I highly recommend him | |
| These are the stand offs needed to mount the outer plate on the motor plate. They're 1/2" OD aluminum tubes with a 1/4" ID | |
| To make them work I welded 1/4-20 X 1" long hex couplers to the inner plate. This allows 1/4-20 bolts to be used for mounting the outer cover. | |

Mockup done left. I didn't like the look of the 5 gal. tanks I originally brought so I sold them and got this 5.5 gal. stretched tanks. A much better look. |

Mockup done right |
